125 grams of butter
½ cup of brown sugar
1 cup chopped dates
¾ cup water
¾ cup self raising flour
½ cup of bran (unprocessed)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
COOKING METHOD
For making these date bars
you need a 25cmx30 cm roll pan. Line the base of the pan with paper and grease
the paper.
Now in a saucepan place the
brown sugar, butter, water and the dates and stir over low heat till the sugar
has dissolved. Bring to a boil, remove from heat and allow cooling.
In a bowl, sift the plain
flour and self raising flour, now add the bran to it and mix well. Now mix in
the beaten eggs, vanilla extract and the boiled date’s mixture. Spread this
mixture into the lined pan. Bake in an oven at 180 DEGREES C/375 DEGREES F for
about 30 minutes or till it is golden brown in color.
